Fifty-seven persons reported missing in Montenegro

Podgorica, (MINA) – Fifty-seven persons are reported missing in Montenegro, and the authorities are not addressing this adequately, it was heard at a conference on Thursday marking the International Day of Missing Persons.

The conference was organized by the Association of Families of the Missing, Kidnapped and Killed Persons “Red Peony” in cooperation with the Center for Civic Education (CGO).

CGO Project Associate and Spokeswoman of the REKOM Coalition in Montenegro Tamara Milas has called upon all the state authorities to take a more proactive attitude to addressing the fate of the missing persons.

She noted that the work reports presented by the prosecution and judicial authorities reveal that there have been no trainings for judges and prosecutors about the Declaration on the Protection of all Persons from Enforced Disappearance and other international instruments, such as the recommendation of the United Nations Working Group for Enforced Disappearances.
