Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Government has proposed amendments to the consumer protection law, which will raise the level of protection at the same level as in the EU member states, and improve the regulation of public services.
Director General of the Directorate for Nation Branding and Consumer Protection at the Ministry of Economy Jovo Rabrenovic has said that the latest two directives will be completely transposed by this legislative proposal, bringing Montenegro one step closer to closing Chapter 28 – Consumer and Health Protection.
“After the adoption of this law by the Parliament, we can expect provisional closing of Chapter 28, ensuring the same level of protection of Montenegrin consumers as in the EU member states,” Rabrenovic said after a Cabinet meeting.
According to him, this would be a great success in the field of legislation development, making Montenegro the first country in the region to achieve the identical level of consumer protection as in the European Union.
Rabrenovic said that certain provisions of the proposed amendments were very advanced and were not included in the EU regulations, adding that the legislative proposal had been welcomed by the European Union. Longer version of article is available on a link MINA ENGLISH SERVIS
