Charges against Radonjic dismissed

Podgorica, (MINA) – Special Public Prosecutor Stojanka Radovic dismissed criminal charges against Anti-Corruption Agency (ASK) director Sretan Radonjic, filed by the Network for Affirmation of the NGO Sector (MANS), on suspicion that he abused his position refusing to initiate proceedings against president Milo Djukanovic.

MANS requested from ASK to initiate a proceedings against Djukanovic for determining violation of the Law on Prevention of Corruption earlier this year, regarding asset and income reports and failure to report received gifts.

They asked ASK to check if Djukanovic had violated the Law when failed to report the income in terms of a gift presented by Atlas bank in the amount of at least €16,741.24, which was used to cover his revolving card debt, Vijesti daily reports.

ASK rejected the MANS’s initiative, claiming that there was not elements for initiating the proceedings, since owning of a revolving card is not considered a gift in terms of the Article 6 of the Anti-Corruption Law, i.e. it is not related to performing the public office.

Following this decision, MANS field criminal charges to the Special Public Prosecutor’s Office.

In the explanation of the dismissal, signed by Radovic, it is stated that MANS’s criminal charges were rejected since there is no grounds for reasonable doubt that the crime had been committed.
