Podgorica, (MINA) – The Center for Democratic Transition (CDT) has launched the online platform raskrinkavanje.me, which is intended to help improve the quality of media content, respect for professional standards and media accountability in Montenegro and the region.
CDT Executive Director Dragan Koprivic said that this project is designed to encourage critical thinking in relation to media contents and to help citizens to differentiate between credible and non-credible media outlets.
He explained that this will be achieved by analyzing media reports that are suspected to contain false information, disinformation or fake news.
“In cooperation with partners from the Sarajevo-based organization “Why Not”, with the support of the National Endowment for Democracy, we have developed a web portal raskrinkavanje.me, a fact-checking media platform, which is part of a regional project dealing with this topic,” Koprivica said.
The general claim that media should not be trusted, he argues, is wrong and dangerous, as much as the uncritical acceptance of all media reports.
“Good journalism is one of the pillars of a healthy democracy and professional media are the cornerstone of a free and fair society. Our goal is to help citizens perceive with ease and make a difference between professional media and tabloid or copy-paste journalism, which often represents a factory of propaganda news disguised as media reports,” Koprivica stated.
