Brussels, (MINA) – The European Commission has called upon the Montenegrin authorities to investigate swiftly and efficiently the allegations made by Atlas Group owner Dusko Knezevic about the election donations made to the Democratic Party of Socialists.
European Commission spokesperson Alceo Smerilli told Vijesti that the allegations about the wrongdoings need to be investigated both by the Special State Prosecutor’s Office and the Anti-Corruption Agency.
He said that the European Commission will be following the developments in the so-called Atlas case.
“We expect the Montenegrin authorities to act swiftly and efficiently, in accordance with national legislation and the fundamental EU principles of the rule of law,” Smerilli stated.
