Branka Milic flees to Serbian Embassy

Podgorica, (MINA) – Branka Milic, one of the defendants in the coup case, fled to the Serbian Embassy in Podgorica on Friday, after the judicial panel ordered her detention.

Her lawyer Jugoslav Krapovic told Vijesti that she was forced to escape to the Serbian Embassy and would not leave or appear in court.

“Milic has done the right thing. The police cannot arrest her here. I repeat that Milic’s detention has been ordered after she said that she could no longer participate in the trial in an atmosphere of the worst possible violations of all her human rights,” Krapovic said.

He said that the advice of Milic’s legal team will be to prevent her unlawful arrest and further humiliation.

The lawyer argues that the defendant’s rights have been grossly violated and that her health has been endangered.

Earlier on Friday, Milic left the courtroom in protest arguing that she was being mistreated in the trial.

“I will no longer suffer this humiliation. You can do whatever you want,” Milic said as she was leaving the courtroom.

Judge Suzana Mugosa responded by ordering her detention. Longer version of article is available on a link MINA ENGLISH SERVIS
