Infrastructural links are necessary for economic development

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Chief Negotiator Aleksandar Drljevic has said that good infrastructural links between Montenegro and the rest of the region, and further on with the EU member states, are preconditions for the economic growth and job creation based on attraction of foreign investments.

“In this context, Montenegro is continuously working on the development of the national transport and energy infrastructure and promoting a closer economic cooperation at the regional level,” Drljevic said at a business forum organized during the Western Balkans Summit in Poznan.

He said that a closer cooperation was in the best interest of all countries involved, as the best way to offer economic and social benefit and security to their citizens.

Drljevic argued that the support and a greater presence of the EU to the Western Balkans were a strong incentive for the improvement of regional cooperation, bringing this part of Europe to the union of nations it had always belonged to.

“Given its history, culture, multiethnic environment and considerable economic potentials, our region is the EU’s ally in reaching our common goal, which is an overall progress,” Drljevic said, expressing a strong belief that the EU should maintain its focus on the Western Balkans.
