Several foreign companies interested in the construction of the second section

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Osman Nurkovic has said that a considerable number of foreign companies are interested in the construction of the second section of the Bar-Boljare motorway between Matesevo and Andrijevica, adding that Montenegro will not be borrowing any more money for this project.

“We are satisfied with the fact that a considerable number of companies are interested in the public-private partnership model. Apart from the Chinese companies, two more from the United Kingdom and one from Italy also expressed their interest,” Nurkovic said.

He said after a meeting of the Cabinet, which had adopted a communication on the implementation of the Bar-Boljare motorway project, that no more loans should be taken for this purpose.

“We know our limits and capacities, but we also know what we need,” said Nurkovic, adding that the motorway construction would be continued on the basis of a public-private partnership.

He reminded that the European Commission had awarded two grants amounting to €2.5 million for the development of concept ideas and environmental impact study for the second motorway section and a bypass around Podgorica, adding that a €1.3 million grant had been awarded for the motorway feasibility study.
