Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – At a meeting with representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Minister of Finance Darko Radunovic said that the stability of public finance and economic growth had been strengthened in Montenegro in the previous two years.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry, Radunovic met with new head of the IMF Mission to Montenegro, Srikant Seshadri, who had come to Montenegro with a team of IMF experts.
Radunovic presented the results achieved in the previous two years, and informed the IMF partners about the future activities planned by the Ministry of Finance.
He said that, compared with December of 2017, the number of working people increased at the end of the last year.
“Moreover, the two main macroeconomic indicators – budget deficit and public debt are under control,” said Radunovic.
According to him, the public debt is expected to be on a downward trajectory in 2019, as well as the budget deficit, which should drop under 3 percent, as required by Maastricht criteria.
