Podgorica, (MINA) – All the countries of the Western Balkans should follow the EU and NATO integration path, said Defense Minister Predrag Boskovic and added that only integrated region can expect prosperity.
During the meeting with his Latvian counterpart Artis Pabriks, he said that the two countries have same challenges regarding regional stability and possibility of carrying out their interests.
Boskovic said that it is important to emphasize that bilateral relations between Latvia and Montenegro are at high level.
He emphasized belief that Northern Montenegro will become the 30th NATO member, as well as that other countries will follow that path, after which the EU integration would follow.
“What we together noted is that NATO membership is one of the key preconditions for stability of a region such is the Western Balkans as well as the EU integration later”, Boskovic concluded.
Pabrik stated that cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense is good, and that one of Latvian goals was joining NATO.
He said that Latvia strongly advocates Montenegro’s EU membership and that he is convinced that Montenegro is an example in the Balkans of carrying out reforms.
