NATO ready to respond to challenges

Brussels, (MINA) – NATO is today ready to respond to challenges faster and with more capacities, than it was several years ago, said Defense Minister Predrag Boskovic.

He remarked that the two-day meeting of the NATO defense ministers has been completed more than successfully, and that they discussed a number of issues in the area of the Alliance interest, as well as a number of challenges the Alliance is facing.

Boskovic told the Montenegrin press in Brussels that the meeting also discussed the issues regarding challenges in some other areas, which have not been occurring earlier as the areas that could cause certain instabilities.

Asked if it was expected that Russia will, by 2 August, when the deadline expires, return to respecting of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF), Boskovic expressed hope that the official Moscow will respect the Agreement it has been violating for more than a decade, and that it would not spark a global arms race.

He said that he did not have information regarding participation of the Montenegrin troops in the Iraqi training mission.

Speaking about procurement of armoured vehicles for the Montenegrin Armed Forces, Boskovic said that the final decision has not been reached yet, as well as that he hopes that it will be reached by the end of the summer.
