Montenegro to become country of free and equal citizens

Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro must become a country free and equal citizens, with the same freedoms and rights for all, organizers of Saturday’s protest rally stated, while also demanding resignations of the public broadcaster’s Council and director general.

The rally took place in Podgorica and brought together several thousands of citizens.

One of the organizers Demir Hodzic stated the protesters will not abandon their demands. “We will remain on our non-violent course until the system is changed,” Hodzic stated.

Dramatist Jelena Milosevic said that freedom is not unconditional. “We are free until we break the law. But are we the ones who are breaking the laws? No we are not,” she said, demanding that the government be populated by those who will keep citizens’ interests at heart.

Commenting on media reports that some political parties are behind the protest, actor Slavisa Grubisa said that the ruling DPS is the one that is behind this protest.

“The DPS is behind this protest. We will set ourselves free and we will set free all those who are captured and blackmailed. They have brought us to the streets and they have made us feel as second-class citizens,” Grubisa stated.

The rally ended outside the building of the national public broadcaster RTCG, where the protesters called for resignations of the RTCG Council and director general.

“This is not a public service broadcaster, but a propaganda service. We demand resignations of the RTCG Council and Director General. It’s time this noise and embarrassment ended,” one of the organizers of the rally Omer Sarkic said.
