Midshipman arrested for smuggling drugs aboard of Jadran

Podgorica, (MINA) – Midshipman of the Montenegrin Armed Forces (VCG) Dusko Radenovic has been arrested on suspicion of being aware of an intention, of currently unidentified persons, to smuggle drugs aboard of the training ship Jadran, Pobjeda daily reports.

Montenegrin military police seized about 50 kilos of cocaine on Friday on training ship Jadran moored in Tivat, and thus prevented smuggling, for which only one person has been accused by now.

Police and the special prosecutor did not comment on the seizure, since, as Pobjeda unofficially learns, they were involved in the operation only once the seizure had been completed.

The narcotics were discovered based on operational information of the Defense Ministry ahead of its planned journey, during which the students of the Maritime Faculty from Kotor were to cruise along of the Tivat-Istanbul-Piraeus route.

Besides cocaine, several pieces of armed weapons were also seized on the ship, Pobjeda learns.

The case was taken over by the Special Police Department, which, in cooperation with the colleagues from the Police Administration, were informed that a member of the navy forces had a deal with criminal structures on smuggling cocaine.
