Government sticks to its plan to adopt a law on fiscalization

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Prime Minister Dusko Markovic has said that the Government will not abandon its plans related to adoption of a law on fiscalization in the trade in products and services, despite the strong opposition coming from the entities that prefer to remain in the zone of informal economy.

“The Tax Administration is already preparing the main elements necessary for the hardware and software solutions and I believe we will create the preconditions to start applying these solutions in some of the sectors, not all of them, in the second half of the next year,” Markovic said at a meeting of the Montenegrin Foreign Investors Council (MFIC).

He said that the resistance of those who would like to remain in the zone shadow economy was very strong, adding that these entities were not concentrated in one area.

“Our inspection services have trouble getting to the every source of unlawful activity. Is it not more acceptable for our Tax Administration to have data from all positions in real time than to search for this data in the field and incur additional costs?” Markovic asked.

According to the proposed solutions, the turnover would be monitored in real time, while the entrepreneurs will have to accept the new software solutions that have been proposed.

The previous public consultations were characterized by opposing opinions of the Government and the private sector.
