Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Atlas Group has warned the Central Bank (CBCG) that a potential decision to launch bankruptcy proceedings for Atlas banka could have serious consequences on this financial company and Montenegro’s banking system.
“We have approached the CBCG on several occasions, offering concrete solutions to the problems caused by the introduction of interim administration for this bank. Regretfully, the CBCG has neither considered nor responded to our proposals,” says a press release issued by Atlas Group.
The Group says that, according to the Law on Banks, the shareholders enjoy the same rights as before, which is why it is inexplicable that the CBCG as interim administrator would not communicate with the bank’s owners, despite its legal obligation to do so.
“We believe that, since the introduction of the interim administration, the bankruptcy of this bank has been the main goal of the CBCG and its Governor Radoje Zugic, who is obviously following somebody’s orders,” the press release says.
Moreover, the bank has not done anything in the previous three months, apart from accumulating its losses, while the capital increase proposed by the current shareholders from Atlas Group was not even taken into consideration.
