AEM urged to ban broadcasting of reality shows on cable

Podgorica, (MINA) – The Media Center has called upon the Council and Director of the Agency for Electronic Media (AEM) to change the Rulebook on Program Standards in Electronic Media and ban the broadcasting of reality shows by Pink and Happy TV via cable operators in Montenegro.

According to the NGO, the Rulebook needs to prescribe that the program standards for electronic media are applicable also to cable operators and not only to the TV and radio stations registered in Montenegro.

The Media Center argues that the AEM Council and Director have failed to apply certain provisions of the Law on Electronic Media for years.

The NGO explains that the provider of audiovisual media services is required to make any service that could be harmful to the physical, mental or moral development of minors available in a way to ensures that, under normal circumstances, minors will not be able to hear of see such service.

“As the AEM Council is well aware, Serbian TV stations Happy, Pink and Pink M are broadcasting reality shows throughout the day via cable,” the NGO said in a press statement.
