Podgorica, (MINA) – On of the leaders of the Democratic Bloc (DF) Nebojsa Medojevic was released from the ZIKS prison early on Thursday.
Medojevic was greeted outside the prison gates by members of his family, DF MPs and the leadership of his political party, the Movement for Change.
His colleague MP Milan Knezevic also left the Parliament building in which he spent nearly two weeks.
The Constitutional Court initiated on Wednesday a procedure for assessing the constitutionality of the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure which allowed for imprisonment of a witness who refuses to testify.
In parallel, the Constitutional Court ordered immediate suspension of the orders to imprison Medojevic and Knezevic issued by the Appellate Court and the Higher Court.
The suspension of those court orders will remain in effect until the Constitutional Court reaches a final decision on the constitutionality of the contested legal provision.
