Podgorica, (MINA) – UNDP office’s support is very important in implementation of the projects of key importance for Podgorica’s development, said Mayor Ivan Vukovic, adding that the agenda of the Capital City has been aligned with the sustainable development goals.
In a meeting with UN System Coordinator Fiona Mccluney held on Tuesday, he said that the cooperation in the previous period was particularly efficient in the fields of capacity building, social inclusion, environmental protection and urban planning, and that its advancement is expected in the period to come.
According to Vukovic, the Capital City is open for UN proposals, due to high level of expertise that this organization possesses.
He presented the most significant projects that the Capital City has been preparing or carrying out, in particular building of the waste water purification system and its importance for preserving environment in the whole country.
The press released stated that McCluney focused on the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, as a good guideline for further cooperation with the UN system.
According to her, the Goal 11 of the Agenda is related to the sustainable development of cities and the ways to make them more inclusive, safe and adjustable.
“It is a big, multidimensional task, and I will happily cooperate in its fulfilment here in Podgorica, Montenegro’s biggest city”, said she.
