Pazin presents three laws in Parliament

Podgorica, (MINA) – Minister of Justice Zoran Pazin has presented to the Parliament three laws which are intended to improve legal certainty of citizens, transpose EU standards and procedures in the area of judicial cooperation in criminal matters and introduce greater accountability of notaries public.

The Bill on Authentication of Signatures, Handwritten Documents and Copies ensures a uniform conduct by all legal entities who perform the authentication of signatures, handwritten documents and copies, which provides for greater legal certainty of citizens.

This law also extends the powers of notaries public to the authentication of handwritten documents.

The Bill on Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters with EU Member States regulates judicial cooperation in criminal matters between Montenegro and EU countries.

The adoption of this law will introduce into the Montenegrin legal system the most important legal documents of the EU in the area of judicial cooperation in criminal matters, including as many as 17 EU directives and other legal instruments, which helps prepare Montenegrin institutions for the functioning in the European institutional system and assuming new responsibilities following Montenegro’s accession to the EU.

The proposed amendments to the Law on Notaries Public introduces a requirement for notaries public to file with the Anti-Corruption Agency reports about their incomes and assets, in accordance with the anti-corruption law.

This provision, the government argues, will reinforce the accountability and transparency of the work of notaries public.
