Podgorica, (MINA) – The authorities in charge of managing EU pre-accession assistance in Montenegro have been successful in preparing and administering EU-funded projects in the past year, it was heard at a meeting of the Monitoring Committee for the Instrument of Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) which took place in Podgorica on Friday.
“Following successful completion of the projects implemented within the 2007-2013 financial period, more than €176 million worth of EU support has already earmarked for the period 2014-2020, which is directed at supporting reforms within Montenegro’s EU accession talks, but also at further strengthening of infrastructure,” the government said in a press release.
The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Chief Negotiator and National IPA Coordinator Ivana Glisevic Djurovic on behalf of the Montenegrin government and Head of Montenegro Unit at the European Commission’s DG NEAR Thomas Hagleitner.
The government argues that the success in using the available EU funds is confirmed by the singing of all IPA contracts planned for 2014 and 2015.
“In this way the Montenegrin administration has demonstrated readiness to gradually fully assume the responsibility for independent management of pre-accession assistance, but also to prepare for the use of significantly larger funds after the EU accession,” Glisevic Djurovic said.
Hagleitner noted that the dedicated work of the Montenegrin administration and good cooperation with the EU Delegation in Podgorica have resulted in visible progress when it comes to the management of EU funds. Longer version of article is available on a link MINA ENGLISH SERVIS
