Integration dubbed important for stabilization

Podgorica, (MINA) – Faster Western Balkans’ integration to the EU is of vital importance for further stabilization and economic development of the region, said Foreign Minister Srdjan Darmanovic.

He participated at the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Visegrad Group (V4) and the Western Balkans’ countries held in Bratislava within the Slovakian presidency over V4.

The meeting discussed the modalities of speeding up the reforms and integration process in the Western Balkans, and exchanged opinions on joint European future in the context of contemporary challenges the international community is facing.

Darmanovic outlined that V4 countries’ assistance to the Montenegro’s reform processes is very important, and that their support to integration aspirations of the countries of the region contributes to faster accession to the European and Euro-Atlantic structures.

He is convinced that the enlargement issue will remain high on the agenda of the new assemblies of the European Commission and the Parliament.

On the meeting sidelines, Darmanovic met with his Hungarian counterpart Peter Szijjarto.

“Within bilateral agenda, they expressed satisfaction with the continuation of strengthening of the contractual basis, which will be an incentive to development of the economic cooperation”, the press release stated.

Szijjarto stressed out that Hungary will continue to strongly support Montenegro’s European integration path, and intensively encourage opening of the remaining and closing of the negotiation chapters in the following period. Longer version of article is available on a link MINA ENGLISH SERVIS
