€9 million to be investment in a ski lift

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Government will invest €9 million in another ski lift at the Kolasin 1600 ski resort, for the construction of which the Public Works Administration has signed a contract with the Doppelmayr-Kolasin consortium.

According to a press release issued by the Government’s Public Relations Service, the ski lift will be connecting the ski resorts of Kolasin 1450 and Kolasin 1600.

“The contract envisages the development of a concept idea for the detachable six-seater chairlift K7 within two months after its signing, the main design is expected to be available within four months after the concept idea has been accepted, while the construction deadline is 12 months after the beginning of the works,” the press release says.

The press release says that the project is a follow-up to valorization of tourism potentials of Mount Bjelasica, after the official opening of the Kolain 1600 ski resort six months ago.

The Government has invested €17 million in the development of the existing ski lift, a base station, access roads and supporting facilities, while the investment will reach €30 million after the construction of the new chairlift and supporting infrastructure.

“The Government sees the investment in the construction or ski resorts as an opportunity for development of northern Montenegro and its tourism potentials,” the press release says, adding that the project is expected to create jobs and improve the quality of life.
