Dakic: Credible and reliable ally in Alliance

Podgorica, (MINA) – The Montenegrin Armed Forces will professionally access every task in order to reach NATO standards and show that Montenegro is a credible and reliable ally in the Alliance, said Chief of General Staff Dragutin Dakic at the ceremony of signing the Declaration on the Completion of Montenegro’s NATO integration process.

He said that in the previous period Montenegro achieved two key foreign policy priorities.

“We have achieved notable results in meeting the set requirements, we have significantly modernized the defense sector, strengthened the national legal framework and we constantly contribute to preserving international peace”, Dakic emphasized.

According to him, all this recommended Montenegro to become a member of the most powerful political and military alliance in the world two years ago, which brought to signing of the Declaration.

“I want to assure you that VCG will remain committed to its tasks and approach professionally to every task in order to reach NATO standards and show that Montenegro is a credible partner and a reliable ally in the Alliance”, Dakic underlined.

Dakic added that Montenegro regulated its legislation in line with the demands from the reform process, and adapted defense abilities to NATO defense planning process.

He said that VCG is currently implementing three key processes- the reform of the Army, equipping and modernizing and contributing to the collective security system.

Supreme Allied Commander Transformation Andre Lanata said that the completion of the Montenegro’s NATO integration process is a great success for the country, but also for the Alliance in general.

He said that Montenegro’s success is the result of collective efforts of all institutions in Montenegro, and added that Montenegro’s accession will encourage all other Western Balkans countries to choose Euro-Atlantic path and contribute to Euro-Atlantic architecture.

According to him, Montenegro made a great progress regarding administration and aligning its legislations, as well as equipping structure of the forces.

“I am impressed with your ambition and commitment to contribute to NATO and development of capabilities”, Lanata concluded. Longer version of article is available on a link MINA ENGLISH SERVIS
