Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Osman Nurkovic has said that the cooperation between Montenegro and Slovakia is important in terms of provision of financial and technical assistance of Slovakia focusing on the European Union practice in the field of road transport organization and management.
The Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs hosted a kick-off meeting of the project focusing on the preparation of technical documentation for the development of Information System for the Road Transport Sector.
Opening the meeting, Nurkovic said that the cooperation between the two countries was also important for the provision of support by Slovakia and its companies in the field of transfer of experiences and best practice in the European Union related to the organization and management of the road transport.
“In addition to investments in the road infrastructure, it is very important to strengthen both institutional and technical capacities providing logistics for the functioning of the overall transport sector, which is the purpose of this project,” said Nurkovic.
Ambassador of Slovakia to Podgorica, Roman Hloben, welcomed Montenegro’s efforts in the field of modernization of road infrastructure and transport sector in general, saying that the cooperation between the two countries should be strengthened.
“It is important that this and similar projects, implemented in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Office, produce concrete results showing that the investments were justified and that they are paving the way for future support,” said Hloben.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the UNDP, the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs, the Chamber of Commerce, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Bratislava-based company StormLevel.
The project, which is funded by the Ministry of Finance of Slovakia, is implemented with the technical support of the UNDP Montenegro.
