Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – It was concluded at a conference on the potentials of the Montenegrin energy sector that the Government was focused on the constant development and improvement of the power sector, and tapping of the energy resources, while an increase in the number of investors shows that recent policy governing this field had been smart.
The Minister of Economy, Dragica Sekulic, said that the line ministry and the Government were focused on permanent development and enhancement of the energy sector, aimed at enabling even faster sustainable economic growth in Montenegro.
“Only sound and strong energy sector can guarantee strong economy,” Sekulic said at the conference, organized by the Vijesti Business Academy, under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy, and in cooperation with Elektroprivreda (EPCG), the Pljevlja Coalmine, the Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS) and the Montenegrin Electricity Transmission System (CGES).
Sekulic said that Montenegro, as a small market and member of the Energy Community, had demonstrated that it was doing its best to ensure as good, safe and efficient electricity supply as possible, to the benefit of its citizens.
“A report by the Energy Community proves this, saying that the country has seen a stable growth, while the negotiating chapter pertaining to energy has been opened and we are working on the fulfilment of the closing benchmarks,” said Sekulic.
