ASK did not find any donations to DPS above legal limits

Podgorica, (MINA) – At the electoral and regular accounts of the Democratic Party of Socialists there have been no records of persons whose annual contribution exceeded the legal limit since 2016, the Anti-Corruption Agency (ASK) has stated.

Atlas Group President Dusko Knezevic published a video recently which he claims is showing former Podgorica Mayor Slavoljub Stijepovic receiving an envelope with money for the DPS.

The ASK explains that in addition to controlling and monitoring the implementation of the law, since 2016 they conducted eight field inspections, directly reviewing the DPS accounts.

Those inspections, the ASK argues, did not reveal any wrongdoings in terms of expenditures or donations and the records were being kept in accordance with the law.

“The electoral and regular accounts of the DPS in the period in question did not include any records of persons whose annual financial contribution to that political entity exceeded the legal limits and there was, therefore, no legal grounds for initiating proceedings for breach of law,” the Agency said in a press statement.

Since the prosecution authorities have taken action in relation to Dusko Knezevic’s allegations, the press statement explains, if requested by the Prosecution Office the ASK will submit all the documentation on the financing of political parties and campaign that it has.
