Podgorica, (MINA) – Head of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral (MCP) Amfilohije has accused Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic of having taken part in creating the coup affair together with Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic, Vijesti reports quoting several sources from ecclesiastical and political circles.
The sources claim that Amfilohije finds Vucic responsible for the five-year prison sentences imposed on DF leaders Andrija Mandic and Milan Knezevic.
Reportedly, Amfilohije and Vucic engaged in a heating debate during the Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), when the Head of the MPC allegedly accused the Serbian President of having betrayed Kosovo. Vucic on the other hand is said to have criticized Amfilohije for his bad relationship with Djukanovic.
The MCP refused to comment on the report, while Secretary General of the Serbian President Nikola Selakovic dismissed the allegations as ‘most brutal lies’.
“Those are the most brutal and the most monstrous lies and falsehoods ever published, especially when it comes to the relationship between our state, the state of Serbia, and the Serbian Orthodox Church,” Selakovic told Tanjug.
According to Selakovic, not a single sentence in the Vijesti report is true.
“And the truth is quite the opposite of the things stated in the report. The truth is that Vucic came to talk with the bishops of our church and the Patriarch and that he said, at least five times during the meeting, that he was not asking for anything, but was there to answer their questions, exchange arguments and speak about our country’s position on the most important national issue, which is Kosovo and Metohija,” Selakovic said.
He added that the bishops were not united in their positions and that they raised different issues and expressed different views, but there was no reference to any of things mentioned in the Vijesti report.
