Outflow €370.4 million

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to preliminary statistics of the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG), the total inflow of foreign direct investments (FDI) amounted to €588.8 million in the first nine months, while the outflow totalled €370.4 million.

According to the latest CBCG Bulletin, net foreign direct investments, i.e. the difference between their inflow and outflow, amounted to €218.4 million at the end of September, down 29.9 percent year-on-year.

“This trend is a result of a considerably higher outflow based on the repayment of intercompany debt compared with the same period last year, as well as the withdrawal of investments by a large company,” the Bulletin says.

The residents’ investments abroad amounted to €43.2 million, while the withdrawal of money invested in Montenegro by non-residents amounted to €327.2 million.

The FDI inflow related to ownership investments amounted to €365.5 million, which accounts for 62.1 percent of the total inflow. Of that amount, the inflow based on the real estate investments amounted to €133.6 million, while the investments in companies and banks amounted to €231.9 million.

The inflow in the form of intercompany debt amounted to €203.8 million in the first nine months, while the withdrawal of investments by residents from abroad amounted to €19.6 million.
