Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro and the United State enjoy the relationship of stable partnership, Minister of Foreign Affairs Srdjan Darmanovic has stated.
He noted that the two countries have stable cooperation within NATO and bilateral relations marked with a high level of understanding and similar views on global problems, regardless of their differences in size and global position.
“Those relations are equally good as always and we are quite convinced that Article 5 of the NATO Treaty is equally solid as it was before,” Darmanovic said in an interview with the Voice of America.
Asked about the talks between Serbia and Kosovo, the MFA noted that Montenegro has always been a strong supporter of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, adding that, when it comes to the announced change of borders, Montenegro’s position is that security and stability in the region need to come first.
He noted that talks about exchange of territories is always a sensitive topic in the region. “That must be accompanied by guarantees that the Balkans will remain stable. We encourage a solution to their relations, but we all need to take care not to disturb the broader architecture of the Western Balkans,” Darmanovic concluded.
