Podgorica, (MINA) – The Special Prosecutor’s Office has initiated procedures against five persons, after 60 kilograms of cocaine were seized on the military training ship Jadran.
Prosecutor Sasa Cadjenovic told the press conference that the procedure was initiated against five persons, three of which are arrested, while two are at large.
He said that two out of five suspects are the members of the Montenegrin Armed Forces (VCG), and others are civilians.
“Activities of the criminal organization were planned to last for a long time period in international proportions, and the gathered evidence determined that this organization was ready to use violence and intimidation in carrying out its criminal plan”, said he.
The criminal plan, Cadjenovic explained, was transporting cocaine from Montenegro to the ports in Turkey, where other members of the organization would have taken it over.
On the way back, the members of the criminal group would bring the same amount of heroin, which would be transported further in Montenegro.
Cadjenovic explained that in the same manner the weapons from Montenegro should have been transported to Turkey.
He remarked that the value of the seized narcotics amounts to €5 million.
Chief Special Prosecutor Milivoje Katnic said that the prosecution and the Police Administration in cooperation with Intelligence and Security department of the Defense Ministry and the National Security Agency, initiated the operation of gathering the evidence on the group operating in selling drugs at international level several months ago.
Asked by the press if the seizure of drugs in the training ship Jadran was connected with murder of Veselin Vukotic, that took place in Kotor on Saturday, Katnic said that they did not have such information, as well as that there was no information that this case was connected with numerous earlier murder cases.
