Podgorica, (MINA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested the Serbian Embassy in Podgorica to allow Montenegrin authorities to access the premises of that diplomatic representation where defendant in the coup case Branka Milic has taken refuge.
The MFA has stated that they summoned on Thursday Serbian Ambassador to Montenegro Zoran Bingulac for consultations about this situation.
“On that occasion State Secretary at the MFA Zoran Jankovic stated that, in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, Serbian Ambassador Zoran Ambassador was presented with a diplomatic note requesting the Serbian Embassy to enable access and entry of competent Montenegrin authorities into the Embassy,” the MFA said in a statement.
The request was made in line with the national wanted notice issued against Branka Milic, following orders of the Podgorica Higher Court.
Jankovic requested Serbia’s prompt response, underlining that the MFA and other competent authorities will continue to act in accordance with international law, Montenegro’s legal order and the diplomatic practices, with a view to ensuring unhindered judicial proceedings.
Ambassador Bingulac said that he appreciates Montenegro’s diplomatic approach to this issue, promising to promptly forward the request to Belgrade and to subsequently inform the MFA of Serbia’s official response.
