Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The proposed amendments to the Consumer Protection Law, which have been sent to the European Commission (EC), envisage many changes, including the indication of prices on products and mandatory labels in the Montenegrin language.
Director General of the Directorate for Nation Branding and Consumer Protection at the Ministry of Economy Jovo Rabrenovic said that the Ministry expected to receive the EC’s comments on the proposed amendments as soon as possible.
“It depends on the administration at the EC directorates reading this document. It is important to note that the proposed piece of legislation had already been completely harmonized with the EC, and we do not expect any negative comments,” Rabrenovic told Mina-business agency.
He said that the Ministry expected that the EC would provide its comments very soon.
According to Rabrenovic, the protection of consumer rights in general has been improving over the years.
“I believe that there have been great changes to the benefit of consumer in the last five years since the beginning of implementation of the Consumer Protection Law,” Rabrenovic said.
