Brussels, (MINA) – Foreign investments in Montenegro have doubled since it joined NATO, said Secretary General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg.
He remarked that NATO membership is important for stability, security and also for prosperity.
“The latest example is Montenegro, where investments have doubled since they joined NATO”, Stoltenberg told the press conference in Brussels.
US Ambassador to NATO Kay Bailey Hutchison said that Montenegro is an important, new member of the Alliance.
Speaking about Macedonia, Stoltenberg said that NATO is ready to welcome this country as a new member, adding that, however, the only way to achieve it is to implement the name agreement with Greece.
He announced that he will soon visit Belgrade, Ljubljana and Zagreb, adding that he will attend a disaster relief exercise in Serbia.
“This is the first such exercise hosted in Serbia, which reflects the strong and highly valued partnership between Serbia and NATO”, said Stoltenberg.
