Gross investments account for one-third of GDP

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Gross investments have reached a record level of €1.65 billion this year, which accounts for one-third of the estimated gross domestic product, the Ministry of Finance says, adding that the economic growth will be at approximately 4.1 percent.

Answering the MPs’ questions, the Director of the Directorate General for Budget at the Ministry of Finance, Bojan Paunovic, said that the fact that the gross investments had accounted for one-fifth of GDP between 2010 and 2015, said enough about how high their current level was.

“This proves that the Government’s economic policy is responsible and conducive to the development of investments, which are the main engine for job creation,” Paunovic said, answering the question of Milos Nikolic of the Democratic Party of Socialists concerning this year’s macroeconomic projections.

Paunovic said that the export of goods and services had increased at a rate of 18.5 percent, spurred by the excellent results achieved in the tourism sector, which saw an 11.7 percent growth in the number of nights spent in the collective accommodation.

According to him, the total revenues coming from the tourism industry are expected to exceed €1 billion by the end of the year.
