Podgorica, (MINA) – At the Cabinet session on Thursday, the Government adopted a decision establishing the Environmental Protection Fund, as party of the commitments under Chapter 27 – Environment and Climate Change.
According to a government press release, the establishment of the Fund is envisaged by the Law on Environment.
The decision, the government says, defines the status of the Fund as a limited liability company, its bodies and their powers, the founding capital, sources of financing and the use of the funds.
“The responsibility of the Eco-Fund is to secure the funds for the implementation of projects that aim at preservation of all components of environment and rational use of natural resources, as the key preconditions for sustainable development,” the press release says.
The work of the Eco-Fund is expected to contribute to the realization of Montenegro’s strategic vision as an ecological state, which will enable citizens to exercise their fundamental right to clean and healthy environment.
