Border control in line with highest standards
Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro controls the border at the sea and land in line with the highest EU and NATO standards, Minister of the Interior Mavludin Nuhodzic and Head of EU Delegation in Podgorica Aivo Orav stated.
They visited on Wednesday the border crossing at the port of Bar and Command and Operational Centre of the Regional Centre of Border Police “South”, which has been recently equipped with modern EU-donated electronic surveillance technology worth €3.4 million.
According to him, the installation of television and thermal imaging cameras along with the radars at Crni vrh and Obostnik, which are in line with NATO standards, ensures full surveillance and detection of the blue border.
Orav expressed satisfaction with the visit to Bar and the equipment of the border control system procured by the EU donation.
He said that the EU is Montenegro’s biggest partner when it comes to the support to integrated border management, and that this donation of over €3 million is a small part of a larger EU package of support to Montenegro, worth in total €20 million.
Orav added that the donation came as a result of endorsing the European Commission’s recommendations and thanked the Ministry for accepting all EC’s recommendations.
Speaking about EC’s recommendations, Nuhodzic stated that the system of surveillance and control of the state border is now fully aligned with the European standards.
