Montenegro set to contribute to all NATO efforts

Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro will continue to be a responsible member of the Alliance, which will contribute to all the activities of NATO, President Milo Djukanovic has stated.

He met on Wednesday with President of NATO’s Parliamentary Assembly Rasa Jukneviciene, as part of her official visit to Montenegro.

According to a press release from the President’s Office, Djukanovic congratulated Ms Jukneviciene on her appointment, thanking her for choosing to visit Montenegro already in the first days of her term.

“He emphasized the long-standing and solid partnership between Montenegro and the PA, as well as the invaluable support that we received during the preparations for NATO membership. He underlined in particular his satisfaction with the visible benefits and general advancements in all spheres in Montenegro since the accomplishment of our priority foreign policy goal,” the press release said.

The President argues that Montenegro’s stability has been consolidated and that the country earned visibility and prestige in the European and Euro-Atlantic community.

“We have got a new boost to our EU integration process and we have started to reap serious economic benefits, especially in terms of investments and the number of tourists from NATO countries.

Jukneviciene underlined Djukanovic’s strategic leadership and Montenegro’s contribution to regional stability, which she noted was in line with the NATO objectives and the objectives of her country.
