Podgorica, (MINA) – The Police Administration has announced that it has carried out verification of the social media claims about alleged banners and graffiti with offensive and threatening messages towards high-ranking national and political officials from the region, and established that these are digitally generated images.
The police stated that graffiti and banners are not, not have ever been displayed, at the locations shown in controversial social media posts.
“This kind of content represents a form of hybrid activities and manipulation using digital platforms, with the aim of disturbing the public, spreading disinformation, as well as creating a wrong perception of the security situation in the country, especially in the context of upcoming international events and regionally important gatherings”, the press release said.
The Police remarked that the police officers of the high-tech crime prevention team are undertaking activities to identify those who created, distributed, or otherwise participated in the dissemination of such content.
