Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegrin security services act in a coordinated, preventive manner and in line with the law in order to ensure that the EU-Western Balkans Summit runs safely, while Wednesday action at Tivat Airport showed that the system is functioning, said Aleksa Becic, coordinator of the Bureau for Operational Coordination.

He said that Montenegro is the host of one of the most significant international events in its recent history and that the competent institutions have been investing maximum efforts for a while to ensure that the even is organized safely and professionally.

Becic pointed out that all capacities of the security sector are engaged in protecting the participants of the EU-Western Balkans Summit, citizens of Montenegro, state institutions, as well as public peace and order.

Commenting on the activities at Tivat Airport on Wednesday, Becic assessed that the competent institutions have shown the ability to monitor, investigate and assess security risks and react before they turn into a problem.

He said that Montenegro is an open country and a responsible partner, but that no one can enter the country without going through the security procedures that apply to international highest level events.

Becic emphasized that Montenegro will host all official delegations with full respect, but will not allow any individual or group, domestic or foreign, to abuse the international event for any type of illegal activity.
