Hosting EU-Western Balkans Summit an opportunity for Montenegro to reinforce its European position

Podgorica, (MINA) - Hosting the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Tivat on June 5 is an opportunity for Montenegro to further strengthen its European position and accelerate its path to its strategic goal, the full Eu membership by 2028.

This was announced by the office of the President Jakov Milatovic, following his meeting with Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxime Prevot.

It is stated that the meeting was held in the spirit of traditionally friendly relations and alliance between the two countries, reaffirming that Montenegro and Belgium have high-quality political cooperation and share an interest in further strengthening it.

“The focus of the meeting was the European integration of Montenegro and Belgium’s support for the enlargement policy, with the message that we are entering the final phase of reform process that should yield measurable results in the rule of law and strengthening of institutions”, says the press release from Milatovic’s office.

The interlocutors discussed the strengthening of economic ties, investments and tourism cooperation, as well as the need for better traffic connectivity through the introduction of a direct Podgorica-Brussels flight.

Milatovic said that Montenegro remains a reliable NATO ally and a credible partner, committed to regional stability and policies that deliver concrete benefits to citizens.
