Two environmental noise protection action plans adopted

 

Podgorica, (MINA) – The government has adopted environmental noise protection action plans for the Ribarevina-Bijelo Polje and Podgorica-Tuzi main roads, aimed at, as announced by the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North (MERS), at reducing public exposure to traffic noise.

 

According to Ministry, the aim of the action plans is to improve the quality of life and ensure that the development of traffic infrastructure is aligned with the noise protection standards.

 

MERS added that these are the first two action plans out of a total of 13 currently being drafted.

 

“Their preparation is of particular importance for the protection of public health from traffic noise, as well as for improving the quality of life of residents in municipalities through which these road sections pass”, said MERS.

 

According to them, these activities represent an important step in meeting the final benchmarks for Chapter 27 – Environment and Climate Change in the environmental noise sub-area.

 

Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North Damjan Culafic said that the goal of the action plans is technical, organizational, planning and institutional solutions, including optimization of speed, the use of low-noise surfaces, additional measures at critical locations, as well as monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of implemented measures.
