Strengthening economic ties between Montenegro and Turkiye

Strengthening economic ties between Montenegro and Turkiye

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the President of the Turkish Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro (TurkCham Montenegro), Burhan Genc, direct investments from Turkiye reached a record €136.2 million last year.

He said that economic relations between the two countries continue to strengthen.

Speaking at a ceremony marking the third anniversary of TurkCham Montenegro in Budva, Genc reflected on the Chamber’s journey since its establishment, highlighting years of dedicated work, numerous partnerships, and tangible results.

“Despite the challenges we have faced, economic relations between Turkiye and Montenegro have continued to grow stronger. Direct investments from Turkiye reached a record €136.2 million last year, which is strong confirmation of the confidence investors have in Montenegro and in the potential of our cooperation,” Genc said.

Turkiye’s Ambassador to Montenegro, Ajda Unlu, said that TurkCham is much more than a business organization.

“TurkCham is an important representative of economic cooperation, mutual trust, and a shared vision of prosperity between two friendly countries. Turkish companies operating in Montenegro invest in different sectors, create new jobs, and contribute to the country’s economic development, while the Chamber, by connecting investors, opens up new business opportunities and further strengthens our economic ties,” Unlu said.

Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Mirsad Nurkovic, noted that in just three years the Chamber had succeeded in building strong foundations of trust between the business communities of the two countries.

“Turkiye now ranks among the leading foreign investors in Montenegro, which confirms the strong confidence Turkish companies have in our economy. At the same time, this places an obligation on our institutions to continue removing business barriers and creating an even more favourable investment environment,” Nurkovic said.

The celebration of TurkCham Montenegro’s third anniversary once again confirmed that the Chamber is an important pillar of economic cooperation between Montenegro and Turkiye, as well as a reliable partner for companies and institutions working together to build stronger economic ties, attract new investments, and promote the sustainable development of both countries.
