Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Finance Minister Novica Vukovic, a meeting with one of the most influential figures in global financial policymaking and Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, confirmed Montenegro’s credibility and its European reform trajectory.
The Ministry of Finance stated in a press release that the meeting with Georgieva focused on Montenegro’s achievements in fiscal stability, public finance management, and the implementation of structural reforms as part of the country’s European integration process.
It was concluded that maintaining a consistent reform agenda and fiscal discipline are key prerequisites for economic stability and resilience amid global uncertainties, which particularly affect small open economies.
Vukovic began his first working day at the IMF and the World Bank Constituency meetings with the meeting in Bulgaria, reaffirming the continuation of strong dialogue and trust with key international financial institutions.
“During the open and constructive discussion, views were exchanged on macroeconomic developments, with particular emphasis on the stability of public finances, public debt trends, and investment activity in Montenegro. It was concluded that the results achieved are strengthening the confidence of international partners and the country’s overall economic resilience,” the Ministry stated in a press release.
