Information and education activities dubbed necessary for environmental protection

Podgorica, (MINA) – Environmental protection does not only mean changing legislation and building appropriate infrastructure, but it also requires information and education activities in the society, said Bulgarian ambassador to Montenegro Meglena Plugchieva.

In an interview to Mina, Plugchieva said that information and education activities among the general society, businesses and among the children and the youth are crucial.

Speaking from the viewpoint of Bulgarian experience, she said that media can be of great help participating in that process.

Plugchieva also claims that today, 12 years since Bulgaria joined the EU, it is cleaner and more beautiful and Bulgarian society is more mature and sensible to environmental protection issues.

She remarked that the principle of today tourist industry is that tourism is possible only where nature is intact.

According to Plugchieva, in the period of ever visible climate changes, and in context of the Paris Agreement, it is important to aim towards bio-economy, generating new forests, preserving energy, recycling, and so on.
