Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is ready to continue supporting priority development projects and reforms aimed at improving competitiveness and the quality of life of Montenegrin citizens, said the head of its Montenegro office, Remon Zakaria.
At a meeting with Minister of Finance Novica Vukovic, it was concluded that the continuation of the Bar–Boljare motorway construction, especially the Matesevo–Andrijevica section, is one of the most important strategic infrastructure projects for Montenegro and a key step toward strengthening connectivity with the region and the European road network.
The EBRD team, led by Zakaria, presented a draft five-year strategy for Montenegro, which is expected to be adopted in September and will focus on energy and infrastructure, strengthening private sector competitiveness, and improving economic governance.
As explained, the strategy will support broader economic inclusion, with a particular focus on renewable energy sources, greater participation of women in business, sustainable development, and strengthening economic resilience.
Vukovic said that the next phase of Montenegro’s development must be based on sustainable growth, green transition, regional connectivity, and a stronger private sector, adding that the priorities of the EBRD strategy are aligned with those of the Government.
