Spajic: Montenegro has never been better prepared for the tourist season

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Montenegro has never been better prepared for the tourist season, Prime Minister Milojko Spajic said, adding that despite the crisis in the Middle East, the country will be better supplied with aviation fuel than many EU member states and other Western countries.

“We have never been better prepared for a tourist season, and we will see how it unfolds,” Spajic said in Parliament while responding to a question from Europe Now Movement MP Vasilije Carapic regarding the measures the Government has taken to prepare for the upcoming season.

He added that the Government had succeeded in securing the supply and import of jet fuel from Greece, ensuring a more reliable delivery of fuel than in many EU member states.

According to Spajic, the Government’s measures have contributed to a significant increase in passenger traffic at Montenegro’s airports, with forecasts indicating that the airports will handle around 3.5 million passengers this year.

He recalled that, according to Airports of Montenegro, the figure stood at 2.5 million passengers in 2019.

“Through the so-called PSO arrangement agreed with the EU, and with the support of the relevant institutions, we secured air connections to six EU cities – some for the first time and others on a year-round basis,” Spajic said.

He noted that 21 new air routes have been launched this year and that the daily number of passengers, which once stood at around 3,000, now ranges between 5,800 and 7,500.
