Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the Centre for Economic and European Studies (CEES), young people in Montenegro, aged 15 to 25, demonstrate a moderate level of financial knowledge and digital security awareness, but at the same time clearly recognize the need for additional education through both formal and informal learning.
The Institute Damar Plus conducted a survey on financial literacy and digital financial risks among young people for CEES, as part of the project “Digital Security for Greater Financial Inclusion of Youth”.
“The survey showed that more than half of respondents, 57.4 percent of those aged 18–25 and 61.9 percent of those aged 15–18, believe that young people need more education in finance and digital security, and they strongly support the introduction of financial and digital literacy into the education system,” CEES said in a press release.
The survey was conducted in March on a sample of around 1,000 respondents from all municipalities in Montenegro, including 517 young people aged 18 to 25 and 491 high school students aged 15 to 18.
CEES representative Nina Vujosevic said the findings provide an important basis for further improving public policies in the areas of education and digital security for young people.
Petar Djukanovic of the Centre for Civic Education (CGO) said that the survey has broader importance for creating sustainable and high-quality youth policies.
The project “Digital Security for Greater Financial Inclusion of Youth,” implemented by CEES, is supported through the programme “Protection of Rights and Promotion of Digital Citizenship: Montenegrin Digital Shield” (MDS), carried out by CGO in partnership with the SHARE Foundation and in cooperation with the Agency for Audiovisual Media Services, with financial support of the European Union and co-funding from the Ministry of Regional and Investment Development and Cooperation with Non-Governmental Organizations.
