Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Chairman of the Tourism and Hospitality Association Board at the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro Ranko Jovovic, Montenegro has all the prerequisites to be recognized as a high-end tourist destination, but tourism development must be viewed from a long-term perspective, with investment focused on products that extend the tourist season.
“To achieve this, we need continued joint efforts by the state, local communities and the business sector, with a clear objective: to make tourism one of the country’s key drivers of overall economic development,” Jovovic said in an interview with the Mina-business agency.
He added that the tourism industry expects a genuine partnership with the authorities and continuity in the implementation of development policies.
“The priorities are improving transport infrastructure, strengthening air connectivity with key source markets, streamlining procedures for hiring seasonal workers, enhancing Montenegro's international promotion, and improving coordination among all institutions involved in organizing the tourist season,” Jovovic said.
He added that investment should be directed towards products that help extend the season, including congress, health, sports, rural and gastronomic tourism, in order to increase spending per visitor and create a more sustainable development model.
