Djeljosaj: We have unlocked the door to EU membership

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Minister of Economic Development Nik Djeljosaj welcomed the provisional closure of negotiating Chapter 8 – Competition Policy, saying that it marks another important step for the country on its path towards full membership of the European Union (EU).

Montenegro provisionally closed Chapters 8 and 29 at today’s Intergovernmental Conference in Brussels.

According a press release from the Ministry of Economic Development, Djeljosaj said that his Ministry has made a direct and measurable contribution to the closure of a record seven negotiating chapters, confirming a high level of professionalism, responsibility and commitment to the European agenda.

“Today’s result is not a coincidence, but a confirmation of the dedicated work of institutions and people who have spent months diligently meeting European standards,” Djeljosaj said.

He added that Montenegro has unlocked the door to the European Union, and is now expected to continue on this path decisively and without delays.
