Podgorica, (MINA) - Montenegro’s presidency over the Berlin Process next year is the highest recognition for its commitment to European integration and confirmation that Montenegro is a reliable partner, said Foreign Affairs Minister Ervin Ibrahimovic.
He told the RTCG that Montenegro will host the EU - Western Balkans Summit on June 1 next year, and that it will also chair the Berlin Process, stating that this is a strong confirmation of the EU’s trust in Montenegro.
“This is the greatest recognition for our dedication to European integration and confirmation that we are a reliable partner. The Berlin Process platform enabled the common regional market, the abolition of roaming, youth mobility and numerous other benefits that all citizens across the region feel today”, said Ibrahimovic.
He emphasized that Montenegro will host European leaders for the first time in the context of the EU enlargement policy, which is a strong message and confirmation that the country is a guarantor of regional stability and ready to be an equal EU member state.
“Next year also carries strong symbolism as we are celebrating 20th anniversary since the restoration of independence, and we see this event as a special gift and recognition from Brussels. The messages we are receiving are very encouraging, but also binding”, said Ibrahimovic.
